Our History

Owners, Kathy Holmes and Jeff Verner opened Pepper Tree Steaks N’ Wine in East Montgomery over 25 years ago and have become the premier butcher shop, wine retailer and caterer in the River Region. Jeff has over 30 years of experience as a Butcher and Kathy brings over 30 years of expertise in buying and tasting wine, together their combined 60 years of experience makes them an outstanding team!

At Pepper Tree we’re as enthusiastic about amazing food and wine as you are. We are proud to be the place the River Region and the Auburn Opelika area shops for everything from the memorable occasion meal to the perfect bottle of wine. We strive to provide impeccable customer service, attention to detail, and quality every day of the week in everything we sell.

We only select the freshest ingredients to make our exquisitely prepared casseroles, fresh salads, dips and more. We pride ourselves in sourcing only the finest cuts of meat available and stock a vast array of wines sure to compliment any meal. Our beef is hand selected and fresh cut daily to provide a juicy, tender, marbled bite sure to melt in your mouth.
